Carol
performs and records with diverse accompanists, ensembles and
big bands at clubs, concerts, festivals, corporate functions,
private parties and studios. Her distinctive, accessible style
of vocal interpretation combines impeccable technique with sophisticated
artistry and inventiveness. Nominated for the Boston Music
Awards as Outstanding Jazz Vocalist, Carol names Ella Fitzgerald,
Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughan and Carmen McRae as some of her
favorite singers and major musical influences. Her performances
showcase jazz, musical theatre and film composers (such as Ellington,
Arlen, Porter, Gershwin, Rodgers and Kern) as well as her own
arrangements, compositions and lyrics. She offers an exciting
variety of jazz and cabaret styles (swing, blues, bebop, ballads,
torch, Latin, humor/novelty), moods, tempos and dynamics (from
spirited, uptempo scat singing to tender, lush ballads). Her
expressive range includes the sensitivity to perform in an intimate
piano/vocal duo setting as well as the energy and strength to
complement a full orchestra.
